Manager - Marten Hills Landfill Facility

Location: Slave Lake, Alberta (Full-Time)

Position Summary

This role isn’t about “keeping things running.”

It’s about leading the operation.

As the Manager, Marten Hills Landfill Facility, you are accountable for the overall performance of the facility and landfill including safety, compliance, people, and profitability. You’ll lead the team, work closely with customers, and ensure that both operate efficiently and to the highest standards every day.

This role is both strategic and hands-on. You’ll set direction, solve problems in real time, and build a culture of ownership and accountability across the site.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead all day-to-day facility and landfill operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient performance
  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing operations team, including hiring, training, and performance management
  • Own site health and safety programs, including safety meetings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Foster a strong safety culture where accountability is shared across the team
  • Ensure full compliance with all environmental and regulatory approvals, maintaining proper documentation and audit readiness
  • Maintain strong working relationships with regulators and stay ahead of regulatory changes impacting operations
  • Oversee acceptance and handling of incoming materials in accordance with permits and approvals
  • Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and audit trails for all material movement and site activity
  • Manage site equipment, maintenance programs, and third-party contractors to ensure reliability and uptime
  • Issue and oversee Safe Work Permits, ensuring all work is conducted safely and in compliance
  • Act as the primary point of contact on-site, supporting logistics, issue resolution, and relationship management
  • Support business development by identifying opportunities for service expansion and continuous improvement
  • Partner closely with operations, commercial, and engineering teams to align on priorities and execute initiatives
  • Support and oversee facility projects, including scope, execution, and commissioning
  • Monitor site performance, costs, and productivity, including ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Manage CRM and operational systems to ensure accurate reporting, data integrity, and pipeline visibility where applicable
  • Ensure all administrative and regulatory reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time
  • Represent the facility and landfill during audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions

We don’t just move materials; we make sure the details behind every load, ticket, and invoice are right.

At Pure Environmental, our field operations generate a constant flow of activity with trucks moving, volumes tracked, and work completed in real time. None of that works without accurate records, clear communication, and timely billing.

As a Facility Administrator, you’ll sit at the center of our field operations and our clients. You’ll ensure what happens on site is properly captured, verified, and invoiced while helping keep information organized, accurate, and accessible.

If something doesn’t line up, you’ll catch it and follow through until it’s resolved.


What You'll Do

  • Prepare and submit accurate, well-supported client invoices
  • Organize and submit daily truck tickets and field documentation
  • Maintain up-to-date and accessible client records
  • Report daily and weekly volumes and revenue
  • Support daily facility balancing activities
  • Work with clients to confirm volumes and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with creating and managing purchase orders
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries
  • Issue weekly and monthly account statements
  • Support payroll administration as required
  • Provide month-end reporting to clients and internal teams
  • Support the day-to-day administrative needs of field operations

As a Facility Operator, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our facility, ensuring waste is received, processed, tracked, and managed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with facility approvals and operating procedures.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring all incoming and outgoing waste streams are managed, documented, and handled in accordance with regulatory requirements and facility approvals.

You’ll work closely with customers, contractors, sales teams, and fellow operators while helping maintain a safe, organized, and high-performing operation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Operate and maintain the facility safely and efficiently in accordance with facility SOPs, regulatory approvals, and maintenance requirements
  • Understand regulatory and operating approvals as they pertain to the facility, including well classifications and acceptable materials
  • Track and accurately log all incoming and outgoing waste streams in accordance with facility licenses, approvals, and operating procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional facility environment for customers, contractors, and team members
  • Assist customers with site logistics and help develop practical, customer-focused solutions when unique situations arise
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and support field sales activities at the facility level
  • Perform routine facility inspections, preventative maintenance activities, and coordinate third-party contractors as required
  • Issue Safe Work Permits and ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with company standards
  • Identify hazards, report incidents, and take action when something isn’t right
  • Know, understand, and follow the ERP and Health & Safety Manual while ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain current knowledge of facility approvals, licenses, safety procedures, training requirements, and regulatory documentation
  • Keep SOPs up to date and improve them when opportunities are identified
  • Handle day-to-day administrative duties including ticket filing, data entry, reporting, and operational documentation
